Is Mike Anderson a good hire? (poll)

Buzz vs Mike (click for stats)

I just want to start out by saying I would be absolutely giddy to get Buzz Williams, and I have Marquette in the championship game, but here are the facts.

Prior to UNO, Williams served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Texas A&M for two seasons (2004-05/2005-06) under head coach Billy Gillispie. Both of his recruiting classes with the Aggies were ranked among the best in the nation and featured some of the top-ranked talent at the prep level. The squad made its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 25 years in 2005-06 and the previous team posted the top turnaround in the nation, improving its win total in 2004-05 by 14 games compared to 2003-04.

After graduating in 1982, Anderson went into substitute teaching while looking for a coaching job. Richardson brought him on to Tulsa's staff as a volunteer assistant. When Richardson moved on to the University of Arkansas, he brought Anderson along as an assistant for a 17-year stint, the last five as assistant head coach. During that time, the Razorbacks won three Southwest Conference championships, two Southeastern Conference titles, three appearances in the Final Four, a national championship 1994 and a second-place finish in 1995. When Richardson was fired, Anderson took over for the remainder of the 2001-02 season as interim head coach.

Rumor Logic About Mike?

 1. Anderson makes 1.55 million and turned down 2 million to coach Georgia and more to coach Oregon.

2. Anderson has not came out and denied speculation even though his players are due back at school at 3pm.
3. A players parent have been quoted to not believe MA will be back at Missouri

4. Multiple reports from news agencies suggesting sources close to Arkansas have given them information leading to the coaching hire.

...what do these points lead you to believe? feel free to throw in your own facts...

A Plan to Coach Hogs

It seems to me that if speculations are true it only makes good sense. Mike Anderson now lives in Missouri and has had plenty of chances to leave. Mike coaches the tigers at around 1.55 million dollars a year. Two years ago Mike was offered 2 million at Georgia and last year was rumored to be offered even more at Oregon. If rumors are true that he and Arkansas are close to a deal this was the plan. The Ozark Mountains do extend into Missouri and feels a lot like home but Mike must think Arkansas is home. Turning down all that money would be hard for anybody. So if it is the case how much would it take to sign Anderson? I will guess over 2 million and as much as 3million. So was this the plan the entire time? I believe it was if in fact Mike comes home.

Mike Anderson to Arkansas?

CBS sports claims that someone close to the Arkansas program called in and reported that a deal was close to being finished that would bring Mike Anderson to Arkansas to replace the recently fired John Pelphrey. The report came shortly after a tweet from a Tulsa news reporter that claims his sources tell him that Anderson will be announced as the new coach at a press conference Sunday March 20.
